About Us
The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society Northern Alberta Chapter

CPAWS Northern Alberta
CPAWS Northern Alberta has championed the protection of Alberta’s diverse natural heritage since our establishment in 1968 as the first regional chapter of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society. The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) is Canada’s pre-eminent, non-profit wilderness protection organization. Together, we are working to keep at least half of Canada’s public land and water wild – forever. Our efforts so far have helped conserve over 40 million hectares of Canada's most treasured wild places.
Focus Areas
- New Protected Areas: Promoting the creation of new parks to preserve Alberta's precious wild spaces.
- Healthy Parks: Ensuring Alberta's existing parks and protected areas retain their wild character and natural integrity.
- Responsible Land Use: Holding government, industry and other stakeholders who use public lands accountable for applying the best land-use practices
