Learn how you can help protect more of Alberta's wilderness:
-
Athabasca Heartland: Alberta's last and greatest stronghold of ecological integrity, located in the Northeast corner of the province. The Lower Athabasca planning region under the new government's land use planning is a large part of the Athabasca Heartland.
-
Chinchaga Wilderness: This endangered eco-region in Northwest Alberta is home to old-growth, lakes, marshes, peatlands, woodland caribou, grizzly bear, and wolverine.
-
The Rocky Mountain Foothills: This area contains the Kakwa, Little Smoky, and Bighorn County endangered forests – the best of the remaining Rocky Mountain Foothills wilderness is under threat of development.
- The Yellowstone to Yukon Initiative
- Wolverine Wilderness: The last chance for a world class protected area in the dry mixed wood forest of Alberta.
-
