Encourage the AB Government to protect at least 50% of the Athabasca Region

Send a letter to Minister Knight asking him for the protection of least 50% of the Lower Athabasca region, as recommended by aboriginal groups, progressive industry and conservation groups for the boreal forest.

These are some important points you might want to include:

Scientists, aboriginal groups, progressive industry and conservationists recognize that more than 50% protection is needed in the boreal.
Studies show that protection of over 50% of the Lower Athabasca is possible without affecting the extraction of petroleum resources.
The areas for protection need to be large, representative, and connected.
In polling results Albertans regularly indicate in high numbers they want protection for wildlife habitat.
50% protection in the Lower Athabasca would improve our international image considerably.
