Peace Hills Insurance Announces New Partner for Charity Partnership Program with the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society

Edmonton, AB, January 29 2024 –  Peace Hills General Insurance Company, a home, auto, and commercial insurer headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta, is proud to announce a renewal of their Charity Partnership Program with a new partnering organization: the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS). This collaboration supports Peace Hills’ mission of being a unique insurance company that truly cares, which includes contributing to the well-being of the communities in which they do business.

CPAWS, Canada’s only charity dedicated solely to the protection of public land, freshwater, and ocean with a strong national and regional presence across the country, has been a driving force in safeguarding our nation’s diverse ecosystems. The organization’s work touches on many aspects of nature conservation: ensuring habitat protection and recovery for species at-risk, highlighting opportunities to create and expand parks as nature-based climate solutions, supporting Indigenous-led conservation, and inviting communities to advocate and speak up for the spaces they live, work and play within.

As their new corporate partner, Peace Hills Insurance aims to amplify the impact of CPAWS’s crucial and increasingly important work. Peace Hills will continue many aspects of their Charity Partnership Program already in place, including an optional employee donation program, fundraising events, corporate matching up to $10,000, volunteer opportunities, and other resources to support CPAWS’s ongoing initiatives in western Canada.

“We are delighted to partner with CPAWS as it helps us engage our employees in new and exciting ways while simultaneously making a positive difference in the communities we serve,” said Kathy Boychuk, President and CEO at Peace Hills Insurance. “CPAWS’s dedication to the conservation of Canada’s natural beauty aligns with our culture of giving back, and we look forward to the lasting impact we can make together.”

“We are grateful and excited for this partnership with Peace Hills Insurance as their dedication to the communities they serve is parallel to our values of community engagement and collaboration. “ says Dr. Kecia Kerr, Executive Director of CPAWS Northern Alberta. “From seasoned environmentalists to those with a curiosity and appreciation for nature, we all hold a powerful voice to speak up for the protection of nature. This partnership will allow our organization to showcase the diverse avenues available to safeguard nature while celebrating that every dollar directed to our programs will go even further with the corporate matching program.”

Peace Hills’ previous charity partner, Pathways to Education Canada, received nearly $100,000 in donations throughout their 5-year partnership from staff, brokers, business partners, and of course the company itself. Peace Hills will be formally kicking off this new partnership to their staff in the coming weeks and looks forward to opportunities to invite their broker partners and fellow community members to join them in supporting CPAWS in hopes of making an equally meaningful contribution. About the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society:

The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) is Canada’s only charity dedicated to the protection of public land, freshwater and ocean with a strong national and regional presence across the country. Working in a way that respects the sovereignty and leadership of Indigenous nations, we are focused on conserving nature to respond to the dual crises of accelerated biodiversity loss and climate change. Our vision is that at least half of land, freshwater and ocean in Canada is permanently protected to sustain nature and people for current and future generations.
